About Scrabble Score Calculator
Scrabble is the world's most popular crossword board game, played by an estimated 150 million people in 29 languages across 121 countries. Invented by Alfred Mosher Butts in 1938 and refined by James Brunot in 1948, the game assigns a point value to each letter tile based on its frequency in English — common letters like E, A, and I are worth just 1 point while rare letters like Q and Z score 10 each.
Knowing how to calculate your score quickly — especially with premium square multipliers — is essential for competitive play. Our Scrabble Score Calculator handles the arithmetic instantly: enter a word, select any word-score multiplier (Double Word, Triple Word), and click individual tiles to apply letter multipliers.
How to Use
- Type your word in the input field — tiles appear automatically.
- Select a word multiplier (Double Word ×2 or Triple Word ×3) if your play covers that square.
- Click any individual tile to cycle through letter multipliers: normal → ×2 DL → ×3 TL → normal.
- The total score updates live, showing the breakdown below.

Frequently Asked Questions
❓ Does the calculator include the 50-point bingo bonus?
Not automatically — if you play all 7 tiles, add 50 to the displayed total manually. We show the base word score; the bingo bonus is a flat addition.
❓ What are blank tiles worth?
Blank tiles (wildcards) are worth 0 points in Scrabble. They substitute for any letter but contribute nothing to the score — a small price for extreme flexibility.
❓ Can I calculate scores for Words With Friends?
The letter values differ slightly between Scrabble and Words With Friends, and bonus square positions are different too. This calculator uses official Scrabble tile values.
