What Is Letter Boxed?
Letter Boxed is a word puzzle played on a square with three letters on each of its four sides — twelve letters in all. Your job is to spell words by linking those letters together, hopping from side to side, until you've used every single letter on the box. It's a simple idea with surprising depth: finding the longest, most efficient words is a genuine test of vocabulary and lateral thinking.

How to Play Letter Boxed
Rule 1 — Build words of 3+ letters
Click or type letters from around the box to form a word. Every word must be at least three letters long and appear in the dictionary.
Rule 2 — Switch sides each letter
You can't use two letters from the same side in a row. Each letter of your word has to come from a different side than the one before it.
Rule 3 — Chain your words
The first letter of each new word must be the last letter of the word you just played, so your words link together into a chain.
Rule 4 — Use all 12 letters
Keep going until every letter around the box has been used at least once. Reuse letters freely — the goal is coverage, not avoiding repeats.
The Goal: Fewer Words Is Better
You win the moment all twelve letters have been used, but the real challenge is doing it in as few words as possible. Two words is par — the gold standard — and every box we generate has a two-word answer. Three or four words is a solid, satisfying solve. Stuck? Strategy Tips
Hunt the long words
A single seven- or eight-letter word can knock out half the box at once. Long words are the fastest route to a two-word finish.
Plan your last letter
Since the next word must start with your previous word's final letter, end on a versatile letter like S, T, or E that begins lots of words.
Attack the awkward letters
Spot the hardest letters first — a lone J, Q, V, or Z — and build a word around them early, so they don't strand you at the end.
Different side, every step
Before adding a letter, glance at which side your last letter came from. Keeping the rule in mind as you go saves a lot of backtracking.

Yes. Letters can be used as many times as you like, and across as many words as you like — the only restriction is that you can't use two letters from the same side of the box back-to-back within a word.

No. Two words is par and every box has a two-word answer, but you can use as many words as you need. Finishing in three or four words is a great result — the two-word solve is just the bonus challenge for word lovers.
