How to Play Word Search
Getting Started

- Study the word list on the right — memorise the first and last letters.
- Click and drag across the letter grid to select a word.
- If the selection matches a hidden word, it turns green!
- Find all hidden words to complete the puzzle.
Search Directions
Words can be hidden in 8 different directions:
- → Left to right (horizontal)
- ↓ Top to bottom (vertical)
- ↘ Diagonal (top-left to bottom-right)
- ↙ Diagonal (top-right to bottom-left)
- ← Right to left (reverse horizontal)
- ↑ Bottom to top (reverse vertical)
- ↗ Reverse diagonal
- ↖ Reverse diagonal
Strategies for Solving Word Searches Quickly
- Hunt for the first letter. Scan systematically (row by row, or column by column) for the first letter of each target word.
- Look for uncommon letters first. Words containing Q, Z, X, or J are easiest to spot because those letters are rare in the fill grid.
- Check all 8 directions once you find a first letter — the word could go any way.
- Start with the longest words. Longer words are paradoxically easier to find (more distinctive letter sequence, fewer coincidental partial matches).
- Use the progress bar as motivation — finding 50% of words gives you a natural momentum boost to finish.
